The Community Respiratory Service is a multidisciplinary team who provide specialist care and support for people in Kirklees aged over 18 with chronic respiratory disease and their carers.
They provide comprehensive diagnostic support in a consultant clinic, plus review and education on the management of chronic respiratory disease to general practices and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with chronic respiratory disease.
An early supported discharge service is available for patients within south and pulmonary rehab south only.
They provide pulmonary rehabilitation, an eight week course which includes exercises and specialist education appropriate for people with chronic respiratory disease.
They have links with the palliative care team, who provide end of life care and support for people and their families whose disease is in the advanced stages.
All respiratory referrals in the Huddersfield area can now be referred to the service except for Lung Cancer, TB and cough (local pathways are available for these conditions).
