Dewsbury and District Hospital

The parking machines are outside, last week when it rained it was bedlam in here. During the rain the machines get wet and don't accept bank notes. The machines should have been placed in the foyer so that they don't get wet and patients would not struggle to find them.

I visted a and e on the 15th of July 2016 with a severe muscle spasm in my left shoulder which left me in horrendous pain it couldn't be moved, as I waited to be seen the pain relief Id had before had given me no relief ( prescribed by the doctor that morning who'd advised me to visit a and e due to the amount of pain I was in) my mum asked the reception if I could get some pain relief as I waited as I was in tears from the pain and it was just escalating, she told me to visit the triage desk and ask I went down and they told me to take a seat and they'd get some a nurse then returned and asked if I'd ever discalated my shoulder I said no and he disappeared they then took me round to resuss the pain was just getting worse when a doctor came dr asked what I'd done ad I said I don't know I haven't hit it on anything to this he started shouting saying I thought you'd dislocalated your shoulder there's people dying and your crying how old are you?, at this time I couldn't feel more degraded I hadn't asked to be seen I just asked for some pain relief he went on to say I've got people to treat who's had a heart attack and you've come in here there's a wait you know? .... I never once asked to be seen just for some pain relief my sister is a paramedic so I know you don't visit a and e for nothing the codeine tablets I was prescribed didn't help the pain and I was reluctant to even visit the hospital but I was unable to physically lay down with the excruciating pain I was in. I've never felt so embarrassed and upset to be spoke to like that I pay taxes I work and get spoke to like I didn't even matter and like I was a nuisance I was heartbroken to think people may have thought that I was a pain, however the nurses told me I was well in my rights as I was in so much pain, the doctor should be ashamed of himself he's getting paid to tread people not demoralise and make them feel worthless!

My husband has had to visit the hospital 4 times and it will be made into 5 visits next week as Cytology have lost his sample yet again. Not only have they lost his sample, they have said they have no record of him at all. To lose a sample once we can get over but when it is 4 times it is absolutely appalling. It has meant that we have been unable to get further referrals. This has been ongoing now since May 2015 and we are appalled at the level of service we have received and the that fact that nobody cares about what has happened. We have been trying for a baby for nearly 2 years obviously there is an issue and we are unable to get the answers to move on due to the incompetency of the hospital staff

Maternity ward. Lack of information, the staff were rude at the time of my baby's birth. The food choices were not good for my dietary needs.

Very quick service

Very efficient with my wife's care at what they did and swift response. Keeping me informed as we went along. Also used HDU staff are excellent on this department but under pressure.
