Rude Staff Misleading disabled people

July 9, 2019
Terrible. Staff wouldn’t allow me to bring an interpreter with me as I am deaf and can only communicate with sign language. A hide amount of discrimination was thrown at me by the staff at Desmond. I felt very upset as they did not allow me to bring him along to help me communicate at my diabetes session. I had paid a huge amount for this as it is very costly and due to the staff who did not allow me to bring him along, which resulted in a huge waste of money.

I am very sorry to hear about your experience and would offer my sincere apologies, as we do allow sign language interpreters to attend. For example we were asked if a sign language interpreter could attend our DESMOND diabetes training day on 10 June. We confirmed with family beforehand that this was okay and the course leader has confirmed that the interpreter did attend the training with the patient.

I would be very grateful if you could contact our Customer Liaison Team to provide more details so we can investigate your experience further, by emailing enquiry@locala.org.uk or if a representative could call 0303 003 4529 option 2.
