Poor attitude from a doctor
I had booked an appointment for the Monday afternoon after being advised to do so by a consultant at St James's hospital in Leeds. That morning the receptionist contacted me to say the appointment had been cancelled due to the doctor having been taken ill and had to go home. Fair enough we all get poorly. I was offered appointments on Tuesday morning with a choice of two doctors. Perfectly acceptable I chose one and turned up in good time. It was 30 mins past the appointment time when i was called in by the doctor. Not unusual or a great worry I appreciate patients need to discuss issues with the GP. It's a pity I wasn't extended the same curtesey as the doctor greeted me with 'I'm 30 mins behind, yours is an extra appointment I've fitted in can we stick to any urgent issues?' If it wasn't for the fact I needed to get a hospital appointment/referral arranged I'd have walked out there and then and made a fresh appointment to see a doctor who was prepared to give me the time and respect I, like any patient, deserved. I was constantly talked across throughout the appointment and left thoroughly upset by the whole process. I will not make an appointment with this doctor again and would actively disuade others from doing so.
