Duty Health Visitor Kirklees

January 7, 2021
Up until baby has been 6 months i havent needed much advice/guidance from HV but i have always recieved a text reply so quickly & efficiently from when i have text the service for advice. I have had some issues recently where duty health visitor has contacted me back really quickly and chatted to me extensively in a supportive & non judgemental way making me feel comforted & assured me that i am doing a good job, she has directed me to some therapy help with my anxiety which i am now receiving and called again to check up on me which made me feel supported & listened to. I feel fortunate that i have had this member of staff who i can tell has a genuine interest & ability to make people feel ok & that things are going to fine & reassure me that what i am feeling isnt just exclusive to me but many others have gone through this too. This health visitor is an assett to the NHS in my opinion & i would like this to be passed onto her manager.

No wonder mums get post natal depression. Where is the face to face support?? Only one visit after birth. Not good.

Ineffective

Had to call them multiple times to even get one visit for me and my child. Felt Confused as had to call and email someone at this Single point of contact centre who gave me a few other numbers to call and a website to go to. Such a faff and really unhelpful and obstructive call handlers at this single point of contact centre which really is not single point as I was given other numbers and web information to even get started in trying to contact the health visitor.

Poor

They are very odd and don’t want to help. The school nurse said to me to call a single point of access number who put me through to a health visitor who told me a 0-19 practitioner would call me back who then called me back 3 week after my initial call to tell me I need to call the original school nurse back for help as she is a 0-19 practitioner . I called the original school nurse person and asked her why I was given the run round and told to call all these people who referred me back to her and she said that forget that she forgot her role changed and she was not a school nurse anymore but a 0-19 practitioner. However she advised me she cannot help as I would need to go on line at locala thriving in Kirklees to get help from her. How crazy and unhelpful is that.

Not brilliant. Keeps talkin about hotline numbers and text services and hasn't actually given me the numbers. Had 1 visit and have just been left to it. Not the most supportive service. Appointment times given in the same way as deliveries. You're health visitor will arrive sometime between 8-1. Helpful.

My allocated health visitor

January 14, 2019
Met my allocated heath visitor before my baby was born on a home visit. Met her once after the baby was born. She said she wouldn't be coming for our next scheduled visit, which she should have come for. Have tried to get in touch with her and left her messages, but no answer. I thought she was supposed to be my first point of contact? But she's never checked in with us or called back when I've contacted her. Really poor service. I've either had to go to the GP or go to the weigh in clinics for help and advice, which are always rushed or super busy. What is the point of having allocated health visitors if you can't get in touch with them? I expect to see her when my little one turns one...or perhaps not.

Need more visits, more information - not much on website but very little groups to attend. Social groups needed pre-playgroup age. No sure-starts, used to have baby check and mum too. Baby could play and mum could chat - supporting each other. No sensory stuff for babies.

Don't listen, don't come across as competent

July 4, 2018
Baby needed heel prick, as was informed that a full blood count needed to be done - mum refused. On next visit someone different came, told mum off and said it needed to be done, saying it wasn't a heel prick. When mum said that she was told full blood count. It was made out mum refused and was lying. Waited in for 14 days, didn't turn up half the time or came late with no notice or communication. One occasion they said we missed them at the door - but they had not even knocked.

No health visitor

March 29, 2017
My baby boy now 3 week old and doesn't have a health visitor. We have tried calling and all we get is no answer. "sorry this number is not recognised". We have phoned doctors and midwife and still nothing. Should change name to locata (locate a health visitor). This is beyond a joke

No Health Visitor + Request One = No Response

January 5, 2017
We understand that our 18 month child should have had a named health visitor and also a visit. Although we have no issues, we need to make sure everything is okay. So we completed a request for contact, got an email notification one month ago, but not heard anything else. Surely, Locala should have communicated something in the last year and a bit??
