Problems with medication

September 6, 2022
They regularly refuse to issue essential repeat prescriptions and effectively hold your medication hostage until you satisfy their every whim. They also issued a medication to my husband who has a serious heart condition that specifically should not be issued to someone who has his condition. This resulted in needing A&E treatment as taking this medication was a risk to his life. Following, he tried to contact them to discuss the medication that had been prescribed. He called 9 times as soon as the surgery opened and was stuck in a queue where his call was never answered. I eventually persuaded him to fill in an e-consult form and finally nearly 48 hours later he received a call from the doctor who promptly confirmed that he should never have been issued that medication and he did not understand how it was issued as when it is entered in to the system, it flags up as a contraindication to his heart condition. So whichever clinician prescribed this medication had to have physically ignored the warning.
They have also removed all repeat prescriptions from him, they refused to issue me any of my asthma medication despite the fact I have severe asthma and regularly need a reliever. I used to be permitted to order one as and when needed, now I am only allowed to order 1 every 3-4 months where as I needed one every 1 month. This resulted in me having to purchase inhalers over the counter to bridge the gap.
My mother also recently had severe Diabetic Ketoacidosis and according to the hospital consultant, was 24 hours from passing. Following the illness she was advised by her specialist to test her blood 5 times a day which naturally means she needs a lot of testing strips. The surgery refuse to issue her more than a week to 10 days of strips at a time stating that “she doesn’t need them”
This surgery has gone from bad to worse over the years to the point they are now negligent and a risk to peoples health. Avoid at all costs. We will be moving practises as soon as we find a surgery that is taking on new patients

Thank you for your review. I am saddened that you have not received the high level of service we aim to provide all of our patients. In some rare cases we do get it wrong and it is patient feedback that helps us to learn and improve. As this is a public forum it is not right for me to openly explain why certain decisions were made by the clinician and the requirements placed upon us when issuing medication and supplies. I would be more than happy to discuss this with you face to face. If you would like this then please contact the surgery.

Has always been good. Now under new management and not been since then so don't know what it's like now.

Good local GP surgery

- Appointment system is straightforward and I always manage to get an appointment in good time.
-Associated seniors are efficient e.g. yearly nurse check and repeat prescriptions.

Electronic prescriptions

November 10, 2016
I’ve been using this surgery for ten years. This surgery is not using the electronic prescription ordering system because they say it cots too much. The chemists have got everything for this system in place. I have to go to the surgery to order prescriptions.

Good but can be tough getting through

Handy location, near home. One of GPs is particularly good with patients and puts themselves out. Sometimes difficult to get an appointment - getting through on telephone.
