John Smiths Stadium
February 3, 2021
I attended a pre-booked appointment at The John Smith Stadium on Friday 29th January 2021 having been sent an online link via one of my community volunteer roles. The appointment was fully booked online using the link provided. I received email confirmation of my booking - which I printed off to take with me (as I don't have a smart phone). On arrival at the vaccination centre, there was no record of my appointment and so I needed to produce my email confirmation (we had been asked to take along volunteer role ID - which I did). At the initial reception point, I had to verbally provide, all over again, the information relating to my name and contact telephone number and email address - which I had entered on the system at the time I booked the appointment and I could easily be overheard by other attendees whilst providing this very personal information. There was a form which the second reception point person said she was completing on everyone's behalf "because it was quicker to do so" and so I answered the questions and the person made entries on the form - I was not asked to read it through and check it once it had been fully completed. The vaccination team were located beneath one of the football ground stands and it was very cold down there. I wouldn't want to recommend attendance there to older people or people of any age who experience physical health problems. It also occurred to me (whilst waiting in a "snake-like" queue) that anyone who experiences mental ill-health could easily "struggle" with the setting itself and also the queuing. I was advised that the vaccination cards that we should have been given "hadn't arrived yet". I was given an information leaflet relating to the vaccine that I had been given (AstraZeneca) and the date for me to return for the booster vaccine was written on it (16th April). Everyone was polite and reassuring as regards the vaccine itself and verbal advice was given as regards possible side effects and how to respond in the various scenarios and I was also encouraged to report any side effects via the "yellow card scheme" because with it being a new vaccine, all such feedback will be extremely useful (a paper leaflet, containing all of the information given, would have been preferable). I am grateful to have had the vaccine and I am aware that this is completely "new ground" for all concerned and I am convinced that everyone is doing the best they can in the circumstances - but it is no good me saying that everything "went like clockwork" when it didn't.

The process of taking the vaccine was smooth.

Cathedral House, Huddersfield Christian Fellowship

It was well organised with a very little waiting time.
But, there should be someone to make sure that everyone entering the building gets their hands sanitised.
