Overall very happy with the service

Doctors , nurses and reception staff are all nice and helpful. I have visited both practices and they are both very accommodating. I book my appointments on line so don't have any problems getting to see a doctor or nurse and I have never been kept waiting long in reception to see the doctor.

Appointments

Very hard to get an appointment. I have to ring up at 8am to get one and I have had to wait a very long time in a queue. Then after waiting I have had to ring back the next day to get an appointment for that day. I am not usually waiting long in reception for my appointment . The response you get from the reception staff is mixed , you can tell from the moment they answer what they are going to be like and I don't like having to explain to them the reason for my appointment as it can sometimes be personal and a sensitive issue.

I am sorry to hear about your difficulties getting through to the practice. We have a new phone system which should mean that you can get through quicker.

I’m am also sorry to hear about your experience with the reception staff and their questioning prior to booking an appointment. The GP practice now has a number of healthcare professionals working within it such as physio, pharmacists, mental health practitioners and i am sure you can understand that they want to ensure that you to see the most appropriate heath care professional at the right time, this may not always be a GP.

It is not always difficult to book an appointment as I call up on a morning but it would be easier if you could call up the day before and get to see the doctor the next day. Sometimes you have to wait a while as your call can be passed to the Batley surgery so you have two sets of waiting time. If you are poorly you have to call up on the morning and hope to get on the phone before someone else to get an appointment that day.

A limited number of appointments are available for next day, 2 and 3 day booking but these are popular and quickly get booked up.

We also have online appointments available up to 14 days in advance.

It's a pretty good service and I have always found the surgery really good. I normally ring up to book appointments and usually find it easy most of the time managed to get one. Sometime I will need to ring up a few times to get through but when I have rung back I have been quite lucky to get an appointment. I order my medication online and don't have any problems with this.
The reception staff are always polite and helpful . I also find it useful to be able to book appointments with the nurse in advance so I can plan ahead and don't have to remember to book an appointment as they send me a message and I can put it in my diary. The doctors are always polite and listen to me and have always acted on my concerns and health issues. Even through Covid I have still had referrals and things followed through.

Helpful nurses

I visited the nurse today for a booked appointment and as I have regular appointments with the nurse it helps that I can book my next appointment on the day. The nurses have always been helpful and listen to me, the doctors are friendly too and will give me enough time to explain what the problem is and what I need. I don't use the online service but during Covid I did get an appointment sent through on a message to go for my vaccinations and flu jab. I was happy getting them and it was less stressful for me as they arranged the appointment. I am aware of the out of hours appointments but I have not had to use them.

Sometimes have to wait after appointment time

I asked for an appointment today and got one. Most of the time it is like that. Sometimes I have to wait 20 minutes after my appointment time so see the doctor, it has happened on a few occasions. I don't feel rushed and I am given enough time to explain but this can depend on the doctor I see.

Difficult to get appointments

it is difficult to get appointments. It is a busy surgery. I ring up and go online to book appointments. It is easier than ringing. Staff Ok.

I don't use the service often. You have to ring early to get an appointment and struggle to get one on the same day. It is easier for me to ring or pop in to get an appointment. Reception polite and friendly.

G P seem to listen and I try to see the same one for consistency so they know of my condition and I don't have to keep repeating myself.
