Is volunteering for me?
Have you always fancied trying volunteering but didn’t know where to start? Worried you can’t commit to a weekly set day each week?
Well, guess what here at Healthwatch Kirklees we have flexible volunteering roles to suit all. If you have an interest in making a difference in your community by listening to people to find out if health and care services are working for them then come and join us. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping people to have a voice by listening to their experiences.
What sort of things might I do as a volunteer?
You might get involved in supporting staff at our outreach sessions, listen to people’s experiences of health and social care to help us know which areas we need to focus on, gather feedback from family and friends, raise awareness of the work we do at events, in the community and with health and care services, visiting services to make sure they are providing people with the right support, (authorised representatives ) gather feedback online, proof checking and reading reports, represent us at hospital trust meetings, help the staff team to design, analyse and complete engagement surveys for the general public are some of the many things you might do.
Most of all, be part of a happy vibrant team that wants to improve services for all.

It is essential for us at Healthwatch Kirklees that as staff and volunteers we work together and are honest and transparent. It is also really important that staff and volunteers are polite, friendly and make all the individuals we speak to, or who contact us feel comfortable and valued. We want every voice to count.
