We understand that your NHS and social care may have been affected by delays and/or difficulties since March 2020.
Have you had to wait longer than usual for an appointment? Perhaps you’ve had difficulty contacting your GP or had an assessment postponed?
We would like to hear about your experience. How are these delays and challenges are affecting you?
We’re here to listen to your experiences good or bad, and build a clear picture of what you need from the future of health and social care.
We’re here to help
We’ve already heard from lots of people so we know this is an issue that’s important to you and your loved ones. Simon called us to let us know he’s having to wait for a further 18-months before he can get his knee replacement operation. Mary who’s in her 60s told us she’s been waiting for a hospital appointment for months. She’s tried to contact the NHS services to find out what’s happening but couldn’t get a straight answer.
When Joan got in touch we were able to support her to get the right treatment from staff who understood her needs.
The difference your views make
Not only are we here to help you get to the bottom of challenges; the information you provide will help us influence NHS managers to do things differently in our local area.
In 2017 our wheelchair provision survey in Kirklees led to an investment of 1-million pounds for Op-care to enable them to address a backlog of equipment requests for complex needs wheelchairs and mobility equipment. This project started from just one person’s feedback!
Your voice can help shape the NHS in Kirklees in the future.
In September 2021, we will provide a report to NHS services across Kirklees. The report will include what you have told us and we will recommend improvements to local services.
Thank you.
We’re listening to you

I don’t think it is professional when a GP Receptionist is asked if the only way I can actually see a Doctor face to face is attend A&E, the answer is “Yeah” Especially when our Local hospital is reporting an increase in patients attending A&E, there’s not incentive when its so difficult to get a face to face appointment with your own GP.
Hi Tracey. Thank you for your comment. We’d be interested to hear more about your experience. Please give us a ring on 01924 450379 or email info@healthwatchkirklees.co.uk
