Clinical Commissioning Group appoints chief officer

Richard Parry has been named as the new chief officer for NHS North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).  Richard will take over from Chris Dowse when she retires at the end of March.  He will carry out this key leadership role for a 12 month period while retaining his post as Director for Commissioning, Public Health and Adult Social Care at Kirklees Council.

Over the next 12 months, the CCG will make plans to secure a permanent appointment.

North Kirklees CCG already works closely with Kirklees Council and this new joint post will support a more joined-up approach to health and social care services across the area, which is a key priority for both organisations.

Dr David Kelly, Chair of North Kirklees CCG Governing Body, said ‘The appointment process included a representation from our GP membership. Members of the governing body are looking forward to working more closely with Richard and I am delighted that we have been able to secure him for this important post. He has significant experience of working with the CCG already and this new role will complement his current responsibilities and help us to move forward with plans for greater co-ordination of health and social care services across Kirklees’.

Richard Parry said ‘Bringing our health and social care services closer together is essential if we are to provide the best possible care and support for local people. Having an integrated leadership approach across both organisations, will help transform how we deliver community care services together now and in the future.

The aim is to provide seamless access to the services that support local residents to be happier, healthier and to live independently in their homes for longer. This is something that I have a strong personal commitment towards and I know both the council and the CCG share my determination to make work’.

Richard’s appointment is subject to endorsement by NHS England.
