Royal Voluntary Service Kirklees

Royal Voluntary Home Library Service Kirklees brings local libraries into people’s homes.

It is a service run by Royal Voluntary Service in partnership with Kirklees Libraries.

Volunteers and staff regularly deliver a carefully chosen selection of books and audiobooks to those who are less mobile or find it difficult to get to their local library.  The service is as much about delivering an important source of entertainment and mental stimulation as it is offering a friendly face and social interaction for people who cannot get out as much as they would like.

Volunteers’ visits are also a useful check on the safety and well-being of their customers. The service equally benefits the volunteers who have the opportunity to gain valuable library experience, build their skills, self-confidence and discover a sense of purpose and belonging to the local community. If you are interested in the regular book delivery service or if you wish to join the Home Library Service team of volunteers, please, get in touch.
