Local PIP Assessment Centre Early Day Motion

November 18, 2015

Jo Cox, local MP for Batley and Spen district, has tabled an Early Day Motion for issues surrounding local PIP assessment centres in Kirklees.  HealthWatch Kirklees are encouraging other MP’s to sign this motion not just locally but across the country.

The wording for the motion is below.

That this House recognises many of those claiming personal independence payment are among the most vulnerable, disabled and ill people within our society and that large numbers of them cannot reasonably spend up to three hours travelling in a day; notes that the district of Kirklees, with 440,000 residents, has no ATOS assessment centre while there are soon to be seven in neighbouring authorities; believes those undergoing medical assessment should have appropriate and easy access to ATOS; and calls on the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to use his good offices to encourage ATOS to open an assessment centre in Kirklees.
