Most of the nurses who attended were great.

As above the majority of nurses provided excellent care esp one nurse who became a calming influence at what was a stressful time. Over the months the care given was excellent.
Rude unhelpful and never same person

I had to put in an official complaint because I got tired of no shows when expecting a District nurse visit and was getting no phone call to let me know. I have refused now to wait all day andI insist the visit has to take place between 8.30 and 1pm. But last month didn't see a nurse at all, visits cancelled at the last minute . Whilst some of the nurses are very nice, there is no continuity of care and some of them just stare at their computer screens and rattle off tick box questions - bowels?, skin?, appetite? . I checked the NICE guideline for care of cancer patients and one is the importance of physchological support for patients with terminal illness. I don't feel Locala staff have been trained to provide such support or are able to demonstrate any understanding of how a patient with a life limiting illness may feel. As a company they certainly don't make this patient feel as if I matter.
Mum had Palliative Care

This is just a Thank you like so many you will have received before. My Mum last away this week while receiving your care. Everyone was kind sympathetic and professional. We only had a small time with her at home, but with your help, I had some special times with her. Thank you all once again.
District Nurses in your home

I have to say the majority of the staff were nice and friendly but i found the lack of continuity the worst part of the care as most staff have a different way of doing for the same complaint. Majority bar two staff didnt bring patient notes etc with them so i constantly had to say what needed done. A photo graph of my progress was suppose to be taken at least once a week to compare with only one nrse did this!!. For the later part of my home visits was by the same nrse and thankgoodness as she was the only one that seemed to know how to deal with my wound and made total sense from then on my leg improved out of all recognition . I can not praise this nurse ( Jayne Cherry ) highly enough she was superb and i felt 100% happy and extremely confident in her approach. Locala need alot more staff like Jayne Cherry nothing was too much trouble.

When daughter had a terminall illness, she had the diagnosis for at least 8 weeks and no District Nurse had visited, i had to contact them to ask for some support.
Palliative Care

Locala District Nurses have been supporting my husband over the past few years, but attended him on a daily basis in the last weeks of his life and provided a first class service. Nothing was too much trouble and they were caring, patient and compassionate. They were very supportive and I could not have asked for better nurses.
Distressing experience
July 2, 2015
District nurse not turned up to home visit as specified by hospital on husband's discharge. This happened on two occasions - one to change dressing and another to remove staples. I had to chase them up the first time. When the nurse eventually turned up I didn't see them was their hands. The second time I had to go to my doctor as I'd waited in for district nurse all day. My GP removed the staples as he didn't want me to wait any longer. Then contacted the district nurses and my husband hadn't been allocated a visit.
