Just lovely

Whilst sat in the waiting room, I could hear some of the conversations the reception staff have to deal with - they are so patient, even when the people they are speaking to are quite rude and abrupt!
The nurse I saw today (Rachel) was so kind to me - thank you

Always get an appointment on the same day. Friendly staff. Dr's ring back when appropriate, always give you the time you need.

Can't get an appointment

I came out of a GP appointment and was told to make my next appointment at the reception desk. The receptionist told me I would need to phone up to make an appointment!
There have also been problems with my medication - they say they've sent it through to the chemist and then when I go to pick it up it's not there.

The Telephone Triage

There is a telephone system where you ring up and tell the receptionist your health condition and then the GP rings you back to decide if an appointment is necessary. I don't think you can be diagnosed on the telephone. I've also tried the on-line system to book an appointment as I thought it may be easier way to get an appointment and didn't want to ring the triage system. When I arrived at the surgery the receptionist said that the GP should have rung me back before coming- what a funny system. Although they did see me anyway .

Miss doctors callback

On mon 1st June I rang for a doctor to ring back. I asked for Wednesday as I work mon/tues. The 1st call was whilst I was doing the school run. As I take 4 children to school it was noisy and I didn't hear the phone ring. I rang back and rebooked as I know doctor won't try again. I asked for a call after school run. They can't give you a time and unfortunately nipped to the toilet and missed the second one. Didn't dare ring back again. If this is the process I think the doctor should just try one more time in case the patient couldn't just quite get to the phone.
Also my son was referred for a hearing test in March and still not heard anything and we're now in May.

Apologies for not responding sooner: when you originally posted we did not have the facility to leave a reply.
Thanks for taking the time to comment on how we can improve our service. I'm sorry you didn't find your experience of trying to speak to a doctor at the practice satisfactory. We have discussed the points you have raised. We agree with your suggestion: clinicians should usually try more than once to make contact, particularly if the call is relating to a child or a vulnerable patient. Unfortunately our demand is such that we do not have the capacity to repeatedly call back.
While we do not offer to call back at specific times, we are happy for patients to give a suitable 'window' when it would be best for us to try. We will endeavor to call back at that time, but this is not always possible if we are dealing with more urgent cases.
I'm sorry that you were still waiting for an appointment for a hearing assessment. I trust this has been resolved. If not, please contact the practice so we can look into it further.
