emergency appointment
May 11, 2017
In agony with two molars I'd had previously filled, rang 111 got an appointment the next day. When I went into the dentists room the dentist didn't really acknowledge me. She asked what the problem was then spent 2 seconds looking and gave me some antibiotics for wisdom tooth infection on both sides. After 4 days the pain got worse but its in the gum around my second molars! I thought she could of atleast spent a few minutes looking at all my teeth to check the ones i had fillings etc on were ok bu nope. Now I'm having to go back again!
tooth pain to agony
July 25, 2016
I visited the Huddersfield royal infirmary emergency dental on Friday 22nd July for tooth ache, when called in to the room I had no idea who the dentist was I just thought some guy was talking to me about the pain, (he never introduced himself) and then I realised he was the dentist. After a quick look he told me I had a cavity in my back tooth and a broken one just next to it, he was going to cover them with a temporary filling till I got registered at a dentist, the procedure was quick (3mins quick) during the procedure the guy droped some kind of tool on me and never apologised, after I left I looked at what he had done and saw he had filed down my broken tooth as well as a temporary filling on my back tooth, still numb I couldn't feel anything. It wasn't till the next day I felt a bit sore thinking it was from have injections at back of my mouth I just carried on until it came to meal time. It hurts to now even drink or eat anything im in more pain than when I went, i feel like ive been butchered
Appauling Service
May 30, 2016
I was in agony with an abscess I had under my tooth, and my whole face swelled like a balloon and I was struggling to swallow my own saliva. After being advised by NHS 111 to get an emergency appointment within 6 hours, I received a call back with an appointment in 3 days! 2 days later, the right side of my face doubled in size and I was rushed to A&E, where I was given a course of anti-biotics. I was then advised to still attend my dental appointment because it will cover any treatment that I do have. I paid £19.70 for the appointment to be in there 30 seconds... the dentist looked at my mouth and said and i quote 'carry on with your course of antibiotics then book in with your local dentist next week'... I understand he could not help me out there and then, but I was specifically told that the cost will cover any treatment needed and all I got told was something I already knew and my mum could tell me.. I am still now going to have to also pay the £58.50 at my local dentist. Absolutely appauling service to say it took me nearly an hour to get there! A disappointment for the NHS and I will be making everybody aware not to use Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, no matter how much of an 'emergency'... go elsewhere.
Important service for those without a dentist
August 21, 2015
I called NHS 111 and they sent me to HRI emergency dentist. I had to wait 2 days for an appointment but when I saw them they removed the damaged tooth and gave me medication. I thinks it's an important service for us all without a dentist.
Good dentist

I went to the emergency dentist at HRI- which is based downstairs. The dentist I saw was good to me, but he said I needed a regular dentist. But nobody is accepting NHS patients.
A good service but cannot always pay charge

I have been here many times as I don't have an NHS dentist. I prefer going here as I live close to it. The only problem I would say I have is that I cant always afford the £18.
Good service but not routine

I don't have a dentist so I end up taking myself and family to the emergency dentist. It's a good service but they can't do cleaning work like the normal dentists do. I wish this could be a regular dentist- very accessible
Quick appointment

I don't have a dentist, I cannot find an HHS dentist. I was in pain and needed urgent treatment for a painful tooth. I called NHS 111 and they booked me in for an appointment. I was seen promptly and the tooth pain was dealt with. I was given medication for the infection.
