End of life care was very understanding of his dementia.
Compassion, respect and dignity.

I was rushed in to hospital with heart problems and had 4 stents fitted. They were absolutely brilliant at Pinderfields.

Long wait

Accident and emergency services

I sat 11.5 hours in the waiting room on hard chairs to be seen by a doctor. The care was good when I was actually seen but the long wait wasn't acceptable. I had pneumonia and was extremely unwell.

Way too busy, the staff have no time to spend time with us, too many patients and not enough staff, food is dreadful

I have nothing against Pinderfields hospital but the fact is it is not my hospital it i am not a resident of Wakefield i want to be taking to my local hospital with my local people when the ambulance took me to Pinderfields I was shocked and horrified don't get me wrong is not a bad hospital but is not my hospital my family could not come and see me because they had no way of getting to Wakefield when I got Discharged I had no way of getting home it was horrible next time take me to my local hospital I respect and appreciate the work the NHS and the Yorkshire ambulance do but there's no place like home I would appreciate if you could take me to my local hospital and in all honesty I prefer dewsbury hospital is got a nicer feeling than Pinderfields hospital I beg next time take me to my local hospital or if you can not do that take me to LGI Leeds general infirmary I trust them more than Pinderfields no Disrespect to the staff there I just don't trust them and the care they provide it's either my local hospital dewsbury or LGI

Maternity admission

Maternity
July 5, 2018
Was originally meant to be a patient at Dewsbury birth centre, but got transferred to Pinderfields. The staff at the Birth Centre at Pinderfields were nice. Got transferred to the labour ward and staff during delivery were good too, but felt like they needed the room quite soon after and felt like we were being rushed out. The aftercare after giving birth was atrocious. Transferred back to one of the rooms in the birth centre. No one came to see us unless we buzzed and then when we did, I felt like we were being a burden for buzzing. Then told not to buzz and to go call them in person - I had stitches so walking to the nurses station was near impossible! Not told about the food available, though I was famished after birth, canteen was closed, then when we asked if food was available, given a menu and a non-vegetarian dish was delivered, and no substitute offered when we returned the dish. Told we could leave 2 hours after birth but we wanted to stay overnight. Partner could stay with me which was good. Routine tests not carried out on baby as they should have been at the hospital - midwife had to come do them after I was at home. Not told much information by staff. Sent a student midwife to discharge me - she was great, but should have been a proper midwife. My stitches weren't checked before discharge, when they should have, and I had to call my midwife to come round at home to check them. Not given pain relief or any advice on it when I should have been before being discharged. Felt like we were being rushed to leave in the morning again and staff kept coming to ask if we were ready and when we were leaving. Really not impressed and will be placing a formal complaint. Would have preferred to have stayed at Dewsbury BC but due to shortage of staff at PGH, the centre was shut down - this should not happen. Staff at Dewsbury BC were brilliant. Dewsbury is up the road for me. PGH takes 30 mins to get to. When I rang triage they told me not to come in to PGH several times without considering the distance to travel especially when having painful contractions - ridiculous advice given!
