Pinderfields not Dewsbury

You asked if patients living in Dewsbury were being made to travel to Pinderfields hospital for their appointments. We spoke to Deborah Turner, Chief Nurse and Head of Quality at North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group. She said

“It may be that patients are exerting their choice on the choose and book system to have their appointments at Pinderfields. Patients are given a choice as to where they can have their appointments. There is certainly no directive if services are available in Dewsbury District Hospital to to send patients to Pinderfields. As part of our strategy to bring ‘Care closer to patients homes’ we are actively working with the Mid Yorkshire Health Trust to repatriate some of the services only available in Pinderfields at the moment to Dewsbury.”

So unless we get some specific issues to investigate, we’re putting this issue on hold.
