care great, hard to book an appointment

The care is great but I tried to make an appointment for my 83 year old mother. every morning called i was told appointments were fully booked and I would need to call the next day. After a week of doing this I told the receptionist I couldn't continue to do this as I work and care for my two young children it was exhausting having to call every day and I just needed to get an appointment scheduled for my mum. Her advice was for my mother to use patches online to request an appointment. When I explained she was not able to do this she scoffed and told me to call again next week.

inconsistent service

I usually have an ok time getting an appointment but there have been a couple of occasions when I have been told I need to wait several weeks to be seen.
On one occasion in July I called to ask to see my usual doctor (I have a terminal illness and he has cared for me throughout my treatment). I was told I would have to wait until 25th September to have an appointment with him. When I asked why it was such a long wait the receptionist was very abrupt with me and I accepted the appointment for 3 months away.
1 week later I was at the pharmacy collecting a prescription with my husband and my doctor came in and said hello to us. I explained the call I had with the receptionist and he offered to see me in his surgwry there and then and he was able to provide me with what I needed within minutes inseatd of months of waiting.

Appointments readily available

whenever I call appointments are readily available and I have never had an issue booking an appointment for me or my children and I am happy with the care we have had.

Results of blood tests - there are rather large intervals between tests and meeting to get the result but this is as a result i suppose of the pressure of work .

We try and respond as quickly as we can regarding test results, but the number of results to process can sometimes slow things down. We appreciate this may cause patients to worry, but I would ask that if you are worried about results or the time to get an appointment, please ring the surgery as we can always check for a cancellation. I am a vulnerable patient. Managed to rebuild my own affairs after social care meddling. Taking the lead in my own refferals. My doctors and surgery advice is in my own opinion not recommended. Felt worried and afraid to go to my own doctors.. Feel relieved taking command of my own affairs. My Doctor in my eyes is fired. No one on Slaithwaite speaks highly as well. In future its hello boots and HRI

have to wait over a week for an appointment

The telephone system changed a few years ago where you are now put in a queue (sometimes 8 or 9 before you), not only that but you are paying for the call while you are in the queue! Before this system was adopted you would have got an engaged tone which meant you had to phone again later. But at least you were not charged for being in a queue. Apparently they make money out of this latest telephone system.
