I needed to book an appointment

November 13, 2024
I queried a letter regarding an appointment, as I already had one booked for the same condition. The matter was sorted by Janet on reception and then the two appointments moved to a slot so I could attend both , one after the other .
I don’t think I have ever come across a more pleasant and helpful team anywhere.

Emergency hospital visit Wed 5 June

June 18, 2024
On my visit to see advanced practitioner to discuss my discharge notes from my visit to hospital. The advanced practitioner suggested further blood tests. I was informed it would be two weeks before samples could be extracted. I requested a blood test form and a medical professional extracted the blood and posted them to the lab. These were returned in 48 hours to my surgery (Fri. I rang for the results and was informed to ring on the Monday as no one had reviewed the results. I rang on Monday 17 and was told again they had not been reviewed fully, and was told to ring again the next day. In conversation with the receptionist I discovered it was my blood sugars that had not been reviewed. I was awaiting my results to determine whether I could go travelling but no one seemed concerned.

I get appointments on the same day if I call at 8.30. The receptionists are very accommodating and try and help as much as they can. I’m very happy with the service I receive

Lack of Interest in Patient's Symptoms

July 10, 2023
On the two occasions I have had to visit the surgery, both times I have been disappointed with the service I have received. I understand that doctors are under pressure but still need to actually listen and hear what patients are saying. On the first occasion, I was prescribed medication which should have involved having a blood test as well, I had to ask for the test when I went back for a review and was met with "oh you have not had one yet!!!". On my most recent visit, I was looking for some help with menopause symptoms and within 2 minutes of me entering the room was told he would give me antidepressants - focusing on the first thing that he was told and nothing else clearly led him to that conclusion. NICE guidelines actually indicate the opposite should have been done.

deteriorating service

March 3, 2023
The surgery used to provide excellent all-around service but my recent experiences have been not great.
The receptionist usually gives results out over the phone and I would like them to be given by a doctor or nurse so I can ask further questions a receptionist can not answer.

I have found it increasingly difficult to make an appointment by telephone. Waiting for excessively long periods of time and if when the phone is answered you hesitate for even a moment they will cut the call ad you are left having to start the process again.

The reception staff are friendly as are the clinical staff team and appointments are generally on time but I don't feel I get very much time with the doctor.
However, I have received good service in regard to my mental health support.

Dear Patient
Thank you for taking time to provide us with your feedback. We am sorry to hear that you feel our service is deterioriating. Test results are looked at by a member of the clinical team and comments are recorded by them for the reception team to relay to the patient once the result is filed into the patient's record. This has been the case for the last 15 years.
Given the volume of test results which are received by the practice each week it is not possible for a member of the clinical team to contact each patient to talk through their individual results. If a patient needs any further explanation then we would ask them to make a telephone appointment with a member of the clinical team.
We implemented a new telephone system 15 months ago which allows patients to park their calls in a queue so they don't have to wait until their call is answered. By parking the call once the patient reaches number 1 in the queue then our phone calls the patient back.
We do hope that the above explains the issues in more detail but if you would like further explanation then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Not enough GP appointments available

March 2, 2023
I can not knock the quality of care of all the clinicians at the clinic and I have been seen by everyone from the GP, practice nurse and health practitioner etc but there are times when I want to be seen by a GP and there isn't one available and there are limitations to what other clinicians can do for me, especially when it comes to managing my long term health condition.

The reception staff are lovely and helpful.

Dear Patient
Thank you for taking time to provide feedback on our service - your comments will be shared with the Team.
We do make same day appointments and would always encourage patients to either phone at 8.30am or call in at the practice at 8.30am to make an appointment and request that this is with a GP. We will always try, where we can, to provide an appointment with a GP for more complex issues.
Thank you again for your kind comments.
