Feel very lucky to be registered here

November 27, 2015
I have been registered here since around 2003, when I was a student. I have to attend fairly regularly due to an ongoing health condition and have always had an excellent experience. The whole team is friendly, always being patient / care focused and work very hard to make it easy for you to get an appointment (my colleagues are always amazed at how quickly I can be seen if needing to be - something I realise I am very lucky to have, going by other people's experiences of other surgeries). I feel listened to (by both the medical and admin staff) and feel that the GPs / Nurses actively involve me in the process (very important!!).

Friendly GPs catering for students and more

Joined this GP as a member of staff at the Uni in 2005 and have had great service from the doctors, nurses and office staff for me and my children. Students, uni staff and local people make this different from your average doctors surgery but it has a nice feel and all the staff go out of their way to help you.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate the level of care I receive from the University Health Centre. I started attending the practise in 2002 as a student and thirteen years on I still feel extremely lucky to have such a good practice on my doorstep. The staff there have helped me through some very difficult times in the last few years. ALL of the staff (from the doctors and nurses to the admin staff) have always treat me with the upmost respect and have been very pleasant whenever I have contacted them often putting a smile on my face when no one else could.

The doctors and nurses I have seen really seem to listen to my problems and try to get to the root of things instead of just treating the symptoms. In every appointment I feel valued as person and I genuinely feel like they care, I am not "just another patient" which is how I have felt in other practices.

Since the practice have introduced online booking and online access to medical records I feel like I have more control over the care I receive. I am able to book appointments when I need them without having to wait until the morning when I have usually forgotten. I can now access my medical records online which is very useful when I have forgotten what we have spoken about in the appointment.

Reviewing my test results online allows me to be prepared when I go into the surgery (i.e. asking my family if there is any family history of X, Y and Z) which allows an in-depth and well informed dialogue between patient and doctor, several times I have been able to mention something in my appointments which I may have never even thought about if I had not seen my results before hand.

I really would not want to attend any other practice as the care they have provided over the last thirteen years is second to none. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

Just want to take the opportunity to record my personal Thanks to all at the University Health Centre they provide and offer so many varied services and always done first class. Have so many positive experiences such as:
- calling them whilst aboard in the UAE for a fax to enable me to do a PADI Scuba course due to Asthma.
- getting a prescription issued and ready for collection urgently via a telephone appointment and this was all done via the receptionist team working with the medical team.

These for me are examples of the whole team from Reception, Nurses, Admin and the Doctors all working as one. Feel so lucky when hearing the nightmare experiences my friends/family and colleagues have at other units across the UK . Especially when it comes to getting an appointment when needed and with the Doctor/Nurse that you want to see.

The team also take time to find out about how to improve the already high level of service given from a patient perspective. Not only do they do this but they also listen and act on the recommendations.

Have been registered now for over 20 yrs and would rather move house than move GPs

The parents of next years intake of students need not worry as they are in safe hands with professionals who care :-)
