Service to my mum.

October 13, 2022
My mum struggles to get face to face appointments, she struggles with the phone system, can be over half an hour to get through, no appointments available on the day, doesn't always get the right treatment or advice, discharge notes from hospitals aren't scrutinised to allow for changes to medication. Mum feels like an inconvenience not important, appointments are always booked up in advance, can be two weeks to get an appointment and hearing, mobility not taken into consideration.
The surgery seems to be still in Covid mode, at my surgery they are fully open and very supportive, no masks either, it's upto the individual.

I am sorry you have reason to complain about the service.

We have recently upgraded the phone system and I hope your Mum has an improved experience the next time she needs to call us.

We have Face to Face and telephone appointments available every day but we are still experiencing a very high demand. We are also able to offer GP appointments throughout the Kirklees area if we have no availability that day.

I can ensure you that we are not working in Covid mode and are delivering more appointments that we were pre-Covid.

If you would like to discuss a specific incident please can I encourage you to contact me directly at the surgery

Generally try to help , contact is poor , from phone contact to email and online , appointments are difficult. Little stability in staff , lack of coordination between services . I ended up in bradford for a coil check because it was classed as sexual health , I have the coil for me a pause symptoms .

I am sorry you have reason to complain about the service you have received from Parkview Surgery.

We have appointments available to book on the day or in advance at a time to suit. Unfortunately, General Practice is experiencing a high level of demand and we cannot always see you on a time and date of your choosing. We will always endeavour to offer you an alternative appointment which may be held at another location in Kirklees.

I hope you see an improvement the next time you call the surgery. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the surgery if I can be of assistance.

I am sorry you have had cause to complain.

We have appointments available every day for patients to book including to access to appointment throughout the Kirklees area. There should be no reason you were unable to get an appointment for 3 months.

I would like to investigate the circumstances of your personal experience in more detail and would like to encourage you to contact me at the surgery.

Can’t get through via phone

October 12, 2022
Can’t get through via phone and when waiting can be upto an hour, they sent me text with a link to book flu vaccine and there’s no availability, same with covid vaccine. I’m at high risk as well. I also need annual review on my meds before they can give me my next prescription . And they can’t get me in to review, and say they won’t give me my blood pressure tablets without a review. I’m at high risk of a stroke and worried.

Fell ill during a routine appointment

October 12, 2022
I suddenly fell seriously ill during a routine appointment at the surgery. It quickly escalated to calling an ambulance and the care I received was fabulous. Special thanks to Claire, Molly and Shameela for their excellent care and attention while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Thankfully I'm on the mend but I needed to express my gratitude to the team at the surgery and the entire NHS team. Thank you all and keep being amazing

6 months to get results, never answer phone.

just bad service from start to finish. 40 mins on a phone to have it cut off.

I am sorry it has taken 6 months for you to get your results.

There are several ways you can obtain result information either via a link on our website to Systmonline or you can download the NHS app and all your information / results will be available for you to view.

Our telephones are very busy and I would encourage patients to call on an afternoon for result information avoiding the peak times on a morning.

Not a lot good to say at the moment

Would love to give a more detailed review but it's impossible to get an appointment. You can be on hold for hours on the phone only to get cut off before anyone answers. No appointments online and if you go in to complain and ask how to get an appointment you are just told to go away and phone...which obviously doesn't work. Attitude of reception staff is disgusting. No idea how this surgery has a 4 star review, I wouldn't even give it one if I could. I'm sorry if you are understaffed but you are really letting your patients down. Something needs to be done.

I am sorry you have reason to complain about the quality of service you have received from the practice.

We have recently had a new telephone system installed which allows for a call back facility and prevents patients having to be on hold at busy times. We have access to extended appointments across the Kirkless area which are delivered on evening and weekends.

I hope the recent changes we have made improve the service the next time you need to contact us.

Where has the duty of care gone?

October 12, 2022
Only getting a telephone appointment for something that obviously needs a face-to-face examination is dangerous. Although that said, it's an accomplishment to actually get to speak to someone on the phone in the first place. Telephone appointments are rushed, there is no real discussion permitted, and prescriptions are issued, but take days to be available to collect. This surgery used to be excellent, now I see very little duty of care. The reception staff have to request that service users be kind to them, I didn't understand the reason why to begin with, however patients who are being made to feel like a worthless inconvenience will lash out in fear. I've had more help from Google searches than I've had from this surgery in recent months.

I am sorry you have reason to complain about your experience with the surgery.

In the last 12 months 70% of our appointments have been Face to Face, this change was made as a direct result of patient feedback. There will be times when patients and the issue they are calling about are better dealt with by a telephone call. I hope you see an improvement the next time you call the surgery.

The surgery has a Patient Representative Group who meet monthly to help the practice deliver change and they provide invaluable feedback about how we can continue to improve. If you would like to join this group please do contact me.

Can’t speak to anybody, no appointments

September 28, 2022
It’s merely impossible to actually speak to somebody at Parkview! You ring to make an appointment, you’re number 9 (for example) in the queue, waiting for half hour, sometimes even longer, you get to position 1 and then phone cuts off. I’ve read countless times how many times this has happened to people, then they ring back and are in the same situation they started in. Sometimes the only option is to go down to the surgery and actually speak to the receptionist - this isn’t always feasible, whether it’s due to working hours or disabilities.
When you do finally get to speak to someone, you’re told there’s no appointments for 6 weeks, sometimes longer.
The receptionists are rude, there’s no doctors / nurses to see to get appointments.
They have been having trouble with the phone system for the best part of a year, maybe longer and nothing seems to be done to fix it.

I'm sorry to read you have had difficulties accessing appointments and challenges with the phone system.
A new telephone system has recently been installed which provides the practice with live data about how many calls are waiting, how long each caller has been waiting and allows us to add more telephonists at busy times. I hope you start to see improvements in the telephony service.
Appointments are always in demand and I recognise it can't be frustrating to obtain an appointments at a time and date of your choosing. The majority of our appointment capacity is available on the day rather than in advance as this is what our patient population are demanding more of. The reception team will also give you alternatives such as evening or weekend appts in the local area that may be more suitable.
I will share your feedback with the reception team and i hope you see improvements in the service in the future.
