Opening Doors: Enhancing Hospital Visits for Patients, Visitors, Carers, and Staff

27/11/2024

Healthwatch Kirklees and Healthwatch Calderdale were asked by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) to engage with people in our areas regarding the current visiting options at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Healthwatch and CHFT wanted to know what patients, visitors, carers, and staff feel about hospital visiting. They plan to use this feedback to shape the future visiting policy set by CHFT.

The engagement project gathered detailed feedback from a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, visitors, carers, and hospital staff. The objective was to identify areas for improvement in visiting times, visitor numbers, and accessibility, as well as to uncover potential barriers faced by different demographic groups.

Ethnically diverse people’s experiences of reablement and intermediate care services

14/10/2024

Very few people from ethnically diverse backgrounds are accessing intermediate care and reablement and we wanted to understand the reasons for this.

We visited community groups, spoke to people who had experiences of needing additional support following discharge from hospital, and gathered feedback from staff who are involved in hospital discharge.

We put all these findings together in our presentation – Ethnically diverse people’s experience of reablement and intermediate care services
